In this
movie there were many images that made you think of many ideas and conflicts
that our occurring in the world today. I think that this movie related to
semester one because it played with many ideas we explored. Some of these ideas
where religion, war, culture, good and evil, and many more. This movie really
made you think of other things outside the spectrum of your life. To understand
some of these images you had to look deeper much like looking at the deeper
meanings in semester one books. I think images that evoked wonderment were ones
about religion and looking at all these separate religious properties like
buildings and rituals. This just makes you think of the beauty of these
buildings and rituals and how they seem to bring a group of people together
that believe in the same thing. Another think that evoked compassion was the
images of poverty. The movie does not limit poverty to one nation but shows
that many nations deal with poverty. Some images in the movie also should cities
and community’s build on poverty and living on trash. I think that for me this
made me think of things inside my everyday life that I take for granite. I
think that brussats opinions on impactful images differs because she is looking
at things like the order the images were shown in and some nature images. I
personally didn’t think that the nature images were as good as some of the
other images.
The movement and music of the
film is very interesting and has a cool effect on the images. The movement I
noticed goes from nature to poorer nations to more developed nations basically
going through the life of different places. These places you can see all start
and end in the same place and have many more comparisons through the journey.
The Music of the movie was very interesting because it seemed to flow perfectly
with the images. In intense parts of the film it seemed the drums sounded like
your heart beat. In nature parts the music made you feel like everything was
peaceful and quite. I think that the films main objective is to just show the
similarities between everything on this earth. Some parts you saw what happens
when we think that out differences are a problem like the holocaust museums and
the burning oils. But through the film it made many noticeable comparisons
between different cultures. I think its overall thesis was that humans have
many differences but also many similarities and if we only focus on the
differences it could lead to our ultimate death.
